First State Bank of Ben Wheeler is deeply rooted in the communities of Van Zandt County. Founded in 1911 by 13 local businessmen, First State Bank has been locally owned and operated for over a century. Throughout the years we have been proud to be partners with our customers and to assist them with their financial needs.
For many years, our main bank in Ben Wheeler was in “old downtown” on FM 279 beside the Post Office. We moved to our current location on HWY 64 in April of 1999. Our Edom location was opened in 1987 as the first branch bank in Van Zandt County. On July 5, 2001, we opened our Canton location on HWY 19S. The newest addition to the First State Bank family opened in Edgewood on April 6, 2009 and is located on HWY 80. All four locations feature 1900s classic teller windows filled with friendly tellers to assist you.
Over the years our bank products and locations have changed, but our personal customer service has stayed the same. We still have our friendly staff answer the phones, our tellers call you by name and our loan officers personally accept your loan requests. We believe that a personal banking relationship is the best way for us to know and meet your financial needs.
First State Bank of Ben Wheeler offers superior customer service, local decision making and a hometown bank atmosphere combined with modern banking convenience. Time and technology may be rapidly changing, but our customers remain our most valuable asset.
